Shopping at the market is a much different experience than going to the large grocery stores. For one thing, you pay for each purchase at each stand, instead of having one central checkout counter. Very often, the persons waiting on you are either the owners themselves, or one of their family , resulting in a much more "downhome" atmosphere. After all, when's the last time the person waiting on you actually knew your name?
The market is open three days a week: Thursday from 10-6, Friday from 9-7, and Saturday from 9-3. The 3 day week gives all the vendors time to get ready for the next week ahead, as much more goes on behind the scenes than is readily apparent.
